The Tui & the Seed (2023)
2023, cast bronze
870 x 400 x 440 mm approx
Edition of 5
A tui is balanced precariously on a giant seed. A seed from the introduced copper beech tree, examples of which are scattered around New Zealand and now protected as heritage trees. This work is part of my series exploring the tension between native and introduced species.
See my large scale work Scattered, a larger work that is homage to a majestic copper beech tree that stands in the garden of a beautiful homestead in the Lakes district of Otago.
