My decision to drop my marketing job and go full time as an artist is a big deal. But this, the first week of my new found freedom has been endorsed by a wonderful sign of encouragement. Today I received a message from Annabel Menzies-Joyce at Tai Tapu Sculpture Garden letting me know that my work Off Balance (2020) is featured in an article about the gardens in the latest Life and Leisure magazine. What a thrill! And what an endorsement of my life changing decision, for my work to be shown in amongst such company – the “big four” of Christchurch sculptors. The photograph of my work is from the Annual Autumn Exhibition at Tai Tapu Sculpture Garden back in March. The work sold at the opening to a Riccarton-based collector. It was a wonderful exhibition for me as not only did I sell the big work, but also three of the smaller maquettes Off Balance (2019).
